"Dust" was inspired by Wonderbound's newest production about the Dust Bowl. Nathan has created an entirely new body of work centralized around the theme of Dust. Leon Gallery is proud to collaborate with Wonderbound and Rule Gallery to present this spectacular new show at Parker Arts, Culture & Events Center.

Artist Statement: My work explores the landscape and its inhabitants. The current series is based on the subject of dust. Some of the pieces in this series reference the historic Dust Bowl directly while others are more obscure. Obscurity itself is also one of the central themes of the recent works. Many of my images depict a paused narrative, such as headlights in the distance or standing at an overlook. What I am capturing in these paused moments is a sense of, as Keats wrote, “straining at particles of light in the midst of great darkness.”
Bio: Nathan Abels is an artist living and working in Evergreen, Colorado. His works typically take the form of paintings and drawings with an emphasis on landscape, atmosphere, and reduction. Nathan is represented by Rule Gallery in Denver, Colorado and Marfa, TX.
