Brianna Straut (Bison Bone) is venturing into her own music and songwriting and will debut her first solo album, “La Mano” at Leon! Paul DeHaven will take the stage in support of Brianna, plus we have a special guest, we can't announce just yet (secret, secret!)
Brianna Straut is an Americana Singer Songwriter from Denver, CO by way of Texas. She tells stories about her songs including times in Texas, losing friends too soon and the good times in Colorado. Critics have swooned saying "If you have even one romantic nerve in your body, you will fall head over heels." Her songs dig deep into those Texas roots and her gypsy soul.
Paul DeHaven has been a fixture of the thriving Denver music scene for over 10 years, well-respected for his time crafting licks and tunes as a founding member of now-defunct folk darlings Paper Bird and high desert psych virtuosos Eye & the Arrow. Paul is also a founding member of the newly formed Heavy Diamond Ring with Sarah Anderson.
Fort Collins folk-rock trio Whippoorwill – Alysia Kraft (guitar, vocals), Staci Foster (guitar, banjo, harmonica, vocals), and Tobias Bank (drums, vocals) begin work this fall on a much-anticipated sophomore album- their first as a trio and the product of two years touring the American west honing a sound as expansive and raw, tough and stoically beautiful as the landscapes and stories that source their songs. There’s a classic familiarity to the song structures (think Harvest era Neil Young and Fleetwood, Mac Rumors), but arrangements sparse and gritty enough to keep them on fringes of country, rock and folk. In 2018 they’ve shared sold out stages with comparable acts Big Thief, Shovels and Rope, Lydia Loveless, and Horsefeathers. With chemistry palpable and charisma undeniable, Whippoorwill’s become a Colorado darling and one of the region’s most-hyped bands on the brink.
